The Housing Authority of Champaign County is seeking a dynamic and community-oriented Special Projects Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Special Projects Manager will play a pivotal role in enhancing our connections with the community, coordinating events and activities for clients and staff, and identifying strategic opportunities for growth and development.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The position duties and responsibilities listed below describe the general nature and scope of work. Other responsibilities, duties, and skills may be required and assigned, as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

 

·         Develop and implement strategies to enhance the Housing Authority's presence within the community.

·         Coordinate and participate in community events, workshops, and outreach programs to promote agency services and engage with stakeholders.

·         Plan and organize events and activities for clients and staff aimed at fostering a sense of community and belonging.

·         Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that events and activities align with the agency's mission and objectives.

·         Identify opportunities for innovative projects and initiatives that advance the mission of the agency and benefit our clients.

·         Conduct research, gather data, and analyze trends to inform decision-making and project planning.

·         Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including local government agencies, community organizations, and businesses.

·         Collaborate with internal stakeholders to leverage resources and support for agency initiatives.

·         Lead special projects from conception to completion, ensuring that timelines and deliverables are met within budget constraints.

·         Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.

·         Conduct regular needs assessments to identify gaps in services and opportunities for improvement.

·         Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies and initiatives that address identified needs and enhance client outcomes.

 

Other Duties:

 

·         Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives to support the agency's long-term goals and objectives.

·         Provide support and guidance to staff members involved in special projects and initiatives.

·         Represent the agency at meetings, conferences, and community events as needed.

·         Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in affordable housing, community development, and related fields.

·         Perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director to support the overall mission and operations of the agency.

·         These additional duties ensure flexibility and adaptability in responding to evolving needs and opportunities within the organization and the community.

 

Skills and Qualifications

·         Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Community Development, Public Administration, or Business Administration. Master's degree preferred.

·         Proven experience in community engagement, event coordination, or project management.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

·         Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

·         Knowledge of affordable housing programs and regulations is desirable.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

 

Technical Skills

 

·         To perform this job successfully, the employee should have strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook). Must have the ability to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.

·         To perform this job successfully, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position.

·         Daily movements include sitting; standing; operating computers and other office equipment; moving about the office. 

·         Must be able to travel between different worksites and attend offsite meetings/events.

·         Must be able to communicate via email and verbally via telephone and video conference software (ie Zoom or Teams). 

·         The employee may occasionally transport up to 20 pounds. 

·         Must be able to work in a deadline-focused and fast-paced environment. 

·         Must be able to pass a drug screening test administered by HACC's designated provider.

·         Valid State Issued Driver's license and be insurable under the agency's commercial insurance policy.
