New CEO Named for Housing Authority
January 30, 2018 -The Housing Authority of Champaign County is pleased to introduce David A. Northern, Sr., who was selected by the Board of Commissioners to serve as the agency's new Chief Executive Officer. An employment contract with a base salary of $161,000.00 was approved by the HACC Commissioners at a special meeting on Tuesday, January 30th.
David's educational background includes a Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Ball State University. He also holds a Certificate from the University of Maryland for Executive Leadership in Housing and Community Development; a Graduate Certificate in Public Management; and a Certificate from the Institute for Innovative Leadership Development. David recently completed the University of Harvard's NeighborWorks Achieving Excellence program.
David brings 20-years' experience in the affordable housing industry to Champaign County. Currently serving as Executive Director/CEO of the Lake County (IL) Housing Authority, David has been responsible for a housing portfolio of $50 million dollars in assets serving 3,600 families; a $32 million dollar annual operating budget; and a staff of 60. Under David's leadership, LCHA was designated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as a high-performing agency.

David serves on the Board of Education for Community Consolidated School District 46 (Grayslake, Illinois) and is the newest Commissioner on the Lake County Sheriff's Merit Commission. David was born and raised in Gary, IN and above all, he is most grateful for his wife Crystal, along with his children Dasanie and David, Jr.
